The Portland Maine  condo market was hit a bit harder than the single family housing market as our economy collapsed, but the condo market had also seen greater speculation prior to the bubble bursting. As we enter the spring 2010 buying season the market is strong and getting stronger.  The biggest hold up continues to be financing of individual units.   As of April 2010, there are a total of 192 condos listed at a median price point of 211K and has been sitting on the market for about 85 days.

In 2009, a total of 206 condos sold at a median price point of 186K after sitting on the market for 79 days.   In 2008, a total of 249 condos sold at a median price of 207K and sat on the market for 64 days.

You can buy a great studio or one bedroom condo on the West end for 125-150K, get into a newly refurbished 2-3 bedroom unit on the red hot Portland Eastern Prom for around 300K and find luxury new construction with water views in the 400-750K range.
